In its Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC blog post, for instance, Sony highlights, “new raytracing options with individual quality settings to finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations”. There’s also talk of settings for raytraced interiors, shadows, and ambient occlusion – adding what Sony calls “an additional layer of believability with realistic shadows and increased depth to the game”. The final trailer shows more of Venom and a newly revealed villain in the form of Sandman. It also shows more of the Venom in the symbiote form and how it affects Peter mentally with the black suit, as well as how Venom becomes his own humanoid form by latching onto one of the characters. For players with high-performance PCs, High, Very High, and Ultimate Ray Tracing options are available to more finely tune their experience.
It’s an adrenaline-fuelled reintroduction to the series that tests how well you remember the combat, as well as providing a few new tricks. It’s also the start of one of the new side-story villain threads that are optional, and while those don’t offer anything overly new in terms of gameplay, they do add valuable extra scraps of story. They flesh out these villains, allowing fully formed characters to emerge where once they were merely one-and-done boss battle appearances.
Visual artifacts and a few crashes still remain even after three patches, and the game can feel less than optimized when the frame rate drops on powerful hardware. If you’re willing to wait just a little longer or are the patient and forgiving type, you’ll be rewarded with a safe sequel that can still satisfy fans of the Insomniac-developed games. This title also gets fans primed for the eventual finale what is almost certainly a trilogy. However, this release serves as a warning that Sony and its studios need to do some real work to ensure future game releases are stable from day one, or else they’ll lose the PC audience that is crucial to funding future endeavors. Movement is handled very similarly to the previous games in the series. Using their web shooters, the protagonists can swing between and above buildings while performing aerial acrobatics.
On PS5 in 2023, Spider-Man 2 at least served as an impressive technical showcase for the hardware, and a blockbuster release in a relatively quiet release schedule. On PC in 2025, without those advantages and in a disappointingly shaky state, it’s much more difficult to recommend. Where the first game starred Peter Parker, and its spin-off starred Miles, this one has both. Story missions choose for you, but often swap seamlessly between them as the action demands.
Players will also have the option to upgrade to the DDE content if they already own the Standard Edition. Pre-orders are also available for both the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. Players who pre-order can enjoy bonus suits, additional skill points, and early access to the Web Grabber gadget. Available while supplies last – this bumper box includes a 19-inch statue of both Spider-Men taking on Venom, a game voucher code and SteelBook® display case.
While Spider-Man 3 hasn’t yet been confirmed by Insomniac, though there hasn’t been much news from the company lately, it would be strange for the successful series to not continue with another sequel. It’s likely that the developers are focusing on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, and any new Spider-Man title will come much later. The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusively released on PS5 on October 20, 2023 at midnight, local time. With users able to pre-download the digital game prior to its release, they will be able to play the game as soon as it’s available for play in the PlayStation store. Gameplay-wise, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is very similar to the series’ previous installments.
Battle Iconic Marvel Super Villains
As Peter goes on a mindless symbiote-induced rampage against the Hunters (even nearly killing Mary Jane at one point), Kraven captures Miles and forces him to fight Li. Miles overcomes his anger towards Li and helps him escape, directing him to find Peter. Despite the disappointment, it’s unlikely that any DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would’ve been very exciting. All of which brings us to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC system requirements, with Sony’s minimum specification targeting 720p at 30fps on Very Low settings.

With options like raytracing and ultra-wide support, we want to give players the chance to make full use of their high-end PC gaming rigs. However, at Nixxes we also take pride in making PC games scale down to prior generation hardware. To cater to this, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling. Check out an overview of the recommended specifications for a variety of graphics presets below. The main difference in the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are more advanced ray tracing options.
New factions and units, such as flamethrower-wielding cultists that keep you at a distance, flying drones, and hunters who deploy laser grids above your head to limit aerial attacks keep you on your sticky toes. Certain enemies are weak to different types of abilities, such as electric or symbiote attacks, which also adds an enjoyable extra wrinkle to fights. It’s by no means revolutionary stuff, but a welcome added level of complexity that makes you consider which powers – or even which Spider-Man – are best for a given job. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards. The ropiness of this PC port is a sad addition to the issues, resulting in a flawed version of an already flawed sequel.
Now, you’ll have access to 78 suits with unique costumes for both Peter and Miles. A bird’s-eye assessment reveals Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) to have a more story-focused gameplay narrative compared to the sequel. It incorporates unexpected twists and turns that take you by surprise and really invest your attention and emotion in the narrative. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023) is more action-focused, so much so that the cutscenes can feel like a drag. It doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing; rather, it develops a quench of thirst whenever the next action sequence cues in. These specs will let you run the game at 720p with 30 FPS using the Very Low graphics preset.

Given that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are among the few that have truly made use of the PS5’s advanced haptics, you’ll definitely want to use one of those controllers if you’re able to. Originally released on 100 vip in October 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third game in the series, pairing together the protagonists from both previous entries (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) as they take on Venom and Kraven. The PC version of Spider-Man 2 is out tomorrow for Steam and Epic Games Store, but the radio silence around its system requirements had prompted confusion about what to expect from the port — and what machines could even run it. Building on top of the classic web-swinging fun that the previous two games delivered, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 introduces the ability to glide using Web Wings.
